The story of our soft brand

The Lull story began in 2010 when Zuzka - our designer and founder decided to make her dreams come true and then, in collaboration with a skilful tailor they created the first Lull product. It was a bathrobe, however, not an ordinary one. It was warm and at the same time light, pleasant to touch, stylish and comfortable. Less than a month later the first few designs were made and they quickly found their first owners. That was the moment when the Lull's philosophy began to form "its stylish and comfortable things for your home". But Lull did not stick with one product only, and so the first pyjamas, bathrobes, long loose T-shirts and leggings were created. By 2013 Lull participated in several fashion shows and the brand popularity grew from day to day. The product line slowly expanded, new skilful people joined the team but something was still missing. And then, when walking on a warm autumn day, the Lull team came up with an idea of making soft things not only for home. After long designing, testing and sewing the masterpiece came into the world! The trousers, sweatshirts, T-shirts and dresses were added to the collection to make the special moments even more enjoyable. And the brand Lull Homewear has been renamed into Lull Loungewear to create a new era in its young history.

The year 2014 was another milestone for our company. Lull realized that for the further progress it would be necessary to have their own workshop, which meant acquiring freedom and independence in creating and producing new collections. The further innovations were followed by the first visit to one of the world's largest fashion fairs, the Premiere Vision in Paris, where we started working with the renowned European fabric manufacturers. Our designer has always cared about the selection of materials, and the fair of such qualities offered her exactly what she had been looking for so long – materials that are the finest in Europe and in the world on one place. In Lull, the chosen materials must be of good quality and pleasant to touch but at the same time they have to be made in accordance with our environment. Once this condition was met, the journey to a perfect product seemed to be shorter and easier.

In 2015 the design line reached up to 67 products, and Lull has indisputably become one of the favourite brands in Slovak as well as in Czech independent fashion.

At the beginning of 2016, the brand introduced its first collection of swimwear and began to work with completely new materials. New product types designed for common daily wear have been added to the product line.

In the meanwhile our brand has been ranked among the top 100 "We-make-a-difference" start-ups. It also takes part in various campaigns promoting transparency and honesty in fashion industry, for example, one of the latest initiatives was the British Revolution movement that came with the campaign "WhoMadeMyClothes", the aim of which was to point to the origin of clothing production.

The year 2017 entered the history of our brand as an exceptional year again. It was the year full of new experiences, discovering the potential of the brand and other opportunities for progress. One of the biggest challenges was most certainly the first line of products made from indigo knits, which are dyed with a natural dye at first and then specially washed and treated to achieve a jeans look. The Spring / Summer 2017 collection was a success, but it also had its drawbacks, as these special washing techniques created various unforeseen situations which we were not prepared for, therefore we had to be “fluffier” in our customer service. Since our Lull's philosophy is constant improvement and learning, we have learnt the lesson best from our own mistakes, and taken them as an opportunity to learn and go on further more clever and experienced.

Probably the most amazing experience this year was photo-shooting the spring collection with our models in the Canary Islands. It was a very special few days´ photo shooting at the sea, which we really enjoyed.

At the same time the preparations for the new Autumn / Winter season continued. We have set the bar slightly higher again. So far the new winter collection has been presented in the greatest variability of materials and products ever, so the trend of soft clothes NOT ONLY for home has been set. This trend has shaped the Lull brand in the years to come. In the collection, we have brought for the first time a successful model of a winter jacket Honey Comb as well as thermally insulated leggings with reindeer pattern. We have also extended our offer by knitted hats and scarves from a traditional Czech manufacturer.

This year we also participated in the renewed fair “Trenčín – the City of Fashion”, where we successfully presented our fashion and got the award “Clothing Company of 2018”. We were very pleased with the award, as well as with the cooperation established with the juror of this competition, PhDr. Dana Lapšanská, who currently works in the field of fashion marketing and is also engaged in pedagogical activities at Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Sharing her opinions and many years of experience gathered in the world of fashion during her career is a great honour for us.

In the words of our Edo…

"I find the year 2018 a big milestone for our brand, because the demand for our products was constantly growing, however, we were not sufficiently prepared for that. We needed to reorganize the company and set up a new system that would allow us a smooth and continuous production, automated processes and assigning tasks for individual departments. Luckily, Miši Cabada, who found his own level here and fit perfectly into our new team, has returned to Lull. From hindsight at how many things have happened, sometimes I do not believe that we have managed to do it all. Thanks to him, although it may look like a cliché, but our success lies mainly in our great TEAM of hardworking and reliable people, who have dedicated their lives to this job. Each and every one of us actually "fights" for the common goals and values of our brand on their own "front".

As for our work, we started focusing more on slow-fashion. We have extended the collection with the line Basics, so-called basic pieces which we want to wear because they are timeless. When they are precisely sewn and quality materials are used, they last more than one season. These are the pieces that are worth investing in. More products made of eco and organic materials have been added to the collection. We have established new co-operations with fabric manufacturers who focus on more environmentally friendly materials or other methods of obtaining yarn, such as Recover, which uses textile waste and reproduces yarns, from which fabrics are re-woven, i.e. it is up-cycling cotton.

The year 2019 was the amazing year for our company, when we fully experienced the great changes we had made in the previous year, but as every year, this year we have set some new goals and accepted further challenges. The main challenge for the main season Autumn / Winter was to find reliable and quality workshops here in Slovakia or in the surrounding countries. We have successfully fulfilled this and relieved our workshop of the complicated products such as winter jackets or lined sweatshirts, which were sewn in the east of Slovakia, or the cardigans sewn in a family workshop in nearby Hungary. It was again a new lesson and new experiences that will hopefully be used again in the future.

One of our important goals was to strengthen the team of our designers and take in new designers. We have successfully managed it and introduced a very talented and creative designer Aďa Šatková, who has become a part of our team. We are pleased that the first models that were created in cooperation with Aďa already appeared in the Autumn / Winter 2019 collection, so we can give young designers their chance here in Slovakia ☺

We are looking forward to our next jubilee year 2020, when our brand will celebrate its 10th anniversary. We are looking forward to everything new it will bring us. We strongly believe that the vision of our fluffy clothing will continue to be fulfilled in accordance with our motto "GETTING BETTER EVERY SEASON “ :)
